Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-Center for Literacy Studies, Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), State University of Surabaya (UNESA) held a Network Workshop or Awareness series 4 on Character, Literacy and Numeracy on Saturday, October 1, 2022. Awareness with The theme of Literacy and Numeracy in the Environmental Sector is an offering to Prof. Dr. E. Titiek Winanti, MS, who is retired.
As a speaker, apart from Prof. Titiek was also present, Deputy Director of the UNESA Vocational Program, Dr. Warju, S.Pd., ST, MT, and a teacher at SMK Negeri 6 Surabaya, Muawal. They were accompanied by a moderator, Dr. Wahono Widodo, M.Sc., lecturer at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UNESA and MC, Dr. Fafi Inayatillah, S.Pd., M.Pd., lecturer at the Faculty of Languages ​​and Arts (FBS) UNESA.
Chief executive, Dr. Endah Budi Rahaju, M.Pd., said that this Sedaring activity was aimed at supporting the Ministry of Education and Culture‘s program regarding the socialization of literacy and numeracy characters and as a medium of appreciation for offerings to Prof. Dr. E. Titiek Winanti, MS who has retired from UNESA.
The event, which was attended by 491 participants from various circles, was opened by the Head of LPPM UNESA, Prof. Dr. Darmi, M. Hum. He explained that this event was related to the Mendikbudristek program regarding an independent curriculum in achieving the profile character of Pancasila students who had literacy and numeracy competencies.
"Teachers and students must recognize and apply the Pancasila student profile along with strengthening literacy and numeracy in teaching and learning activities," he said.
In the material session, Prof. Titiek conveyed about the condition of the environment which is now increasingly unkempt. The effects of global warming and environmental pollution have a significant impact on human life and all creatures on earth.
"Indonesia is responsive in dealing with various environmental problems, including their processing. This can be seen from the many legal foundations that are ready to uphold justice in the event of irregularities in the use of the environment. It proves that the Indonesian government is very serious in handling and managing existing resources," he said.
Dr. Warju on that occasion explained "Development of Green Technology (Green Technology) to Support Adiwiyata Program and Green Campus". Meanwhile, Muawal conveyed about "Character, Literacy, and Numeration in Learning Pastry Bakery Baking Practices."
"This online implementation is a manifestation of LPPM Unesa‘s concern for the enactment of an independent curriculum for primary and secondary education. Hopefully what we get from this online workshop can be useful for teachers and students in developing literacy and numeracy competencies as well as being the glue between schools, families and campuses, "said the Secretary of LPPM Unesa, Dr. Oce Wiriawan, M.Kes when closing the event.
