Unesa.ac.id, MAGETAN–Together with the ranks of the Magetan Regency Government, the leadership of the State University of Surabaya (UNESA) laid the first stone for the construction of the UNESA Multi-Campus in Magetan on Thursday, 22 September 2022.
The campus was built on an area of ​​13, 5 hectares located on Jalan Barat, RT 17, RW 4, Maospati Village, Maospati District, Magetan Regency, East Java. UNESA Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes., said that the selection of the location was based on a number of studies that were carefully carried out by the UNESA team.
“This campus was built on a long-term study and consideration. There are academic studies, including whether the needs of the community are all considered," said Cak Hasan.
This development includes the main building which is targeted to be completed in July 2023. After that, it will be filled with the equipment or facilities needed, so that in the new 2023 school year it can be used. Related to the study program, starting this year, starting with six study programs first.
If you look at the needs in the field, there are around 16 study programs that are planned to be opened at the UNESA Magetan Multicampus. "This is a multi-campus concept and students who register can study at the central UNESA while waiting for the construction to be completed with a hybrid system," he explained.
“UNESA in Magetan is a form of collaboration and cooperation in realizing equal distribution of education in the region. This is a commitment because UNESA is one step away from changing its status to PTNBH,” added Cak Hasan.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Chancellor for General Affairs and Finance, Suprapto, S.Pd., MT, said that the construction was carried out in stages. For the first stage purely using the UNESA budget. "Our goal is how access to higher education is close to generations in the regions, especially in Magetan and its surroundings," he said.
Magetan Regent, Dr. Drs. Suprawoto, SH, M.Sc., explained the form of cooperation between UNESA and the Regency Government to answer the problem of uneven education in Indonesia. He said education can break the chain of poverty and ignorance, so it is important for citizens to get a decent education up to university.
"Of course it can‘t be fast to solve this problem, because it takes time and process," he explained. He added that UNESA does not only belong to Magetan, but there will be many students from various regions who study at UNESA Magetan. "Moreover, the location chosen is quite strategic, close to Madiun, Ngawi, Ponorogo and various other areas," he explained.
He hopes that with the presence of UNESA in Magetan, apart from equal distribution of education, it will lead to an increase in the quality of human resources, as well as to encourage economic progress and the welfare of the people of Magetan and its surroundings.
The chairman of the DPRD of Magetan Regency, Sujatno, SE, MM, explained that in addition to improving the quality of education in Magetan and its surroundings, this collaboration can have a good impact on the economic aspect.
