FIP.unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA- The Faculty of Education again held a series of offline PKKMB which took place in four auditorium rooms on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. On the second day, 1370 new students were given insight and assistance on materials related to “Towards a healthy campus and environmental insight in Higher Education" by the Unesa Eco campus team Meta Yanti Dewi, S.Si., M.Si and "Character Education in Higher Education" by a professor of the Department of Out-of-school Education Prof. Dr. Dra. Gunarti Dwi Lestari, M.Sc. The Unesa Eco Campus team Meta Yanti Dewi, S.Si., M.Si explained that as students in carrying out the tri dharma of higher education, they must care and contribute to the environment, especially within the campus at Unesa. “A simple implementation that can be done by turning off the lights when not in use, printing paper back and forth, utilizing today‘s technology to utilize waste that is no longer useful," he said. Therefore, Eco-Characters play an important role in creating a healthy campus and having good environmental literacy by implementing Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and disposal. Professor of the Department of Out-of-school Education Prof. Dr. Dra. Gunarti Dwi Lestari, M.Si said that 2045 was a golden year for Indonesia. To get there, character education is needed to face changes in an increasingly challenging future. The preparation consists of a personality with good character, literacy with basic literacy, and competence in problem solving. According to him, being an educator in this modern era, good character is the main thing. With good character will reflect a good personality for students and equipped with the intelligence of educators. So the character and intelligence of educators are balanced. The characters in question are religious, nationalism, independence, mutual cooperation, and integrity. With these five, continued Prof. Gunarti that character habituation can be started from simple things. “When starting learning, students must enter 15 minutes before.
